GHK-Cu is a copper-chelating tripeptide (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine), isolated in 1973 by Loren Pickart from human plasma after noticing it reversed aging markers in cultured hepatocytes. It is not an approved drug; it is sold as a topical cosmetic ingredient, and human evidence is limited to that route (a trial in 21 women showed an average 28% increase in collagen after 3 months of topical use). No published clinical trials exist for injectable GHK-Cu in humans — that route has only been studied in animals and in vitro. It delivers copper to extracellular-matrix enzymes, stimulating collagen and glycosaminoglycans; plasma levels decline with age.
